"befor the Race"
Overcast skies but the weather forecast did not include any rain, so the Cahoon Museum of American Art's annual "Brush Off " went on as planned! There were 5 artists at Ropes Beach in Cotuit, more artists painting at other locations. Today turned out to be really pleasant without the sun beating down on me. I knew the boats would start to scatter as the morning went on so I blocked them in first. I added the sail boats in the background as the painting progressed and the activity on the water increased. It got quite lively!
There is a thrill to painting for a short deadline but this also comes with a level of stress. Quick yet thoughtful decisions knowing that I won't have the usual "wait " time back in my studio. The bidders who got my painting looked very happy. That is also a thrill! When people support the arts, there are winners all around; the artist, the art collector and in this case the Cahoon Museum!
